“The Dance” is a multi-dimensional dance performance fostered by the collaboration between artists from multiple disciplines including dance, poetry, music, and physical theatre.
The work will be influenced by 3 poems and their poetic structure, Villanelle, characterized by meticulous repetition and content.
The artist will explore the tensions that accompany the experience of grief, the desire to continue to move forward, the abysmal need to lean on clear structures which create order and comfort in the chaos of moments of crisis, and the need to devote oneself to complete omission of movement and responsibility. The artists will work with the structure of the villanelle through physical practice. They will convert the repeating verses into a format of movement and time, minutes.
As in a villanelle – Partiture scene action will take place as a repetitive movement every 6, 12 and 18 minutes. At the same time, a different idea will repeat itself every 9, 15 and 19 minutes.
Collaborators – Naama Manor -Physical theater, Rotem Weissman – Choreography,
Dory Manor – Poetry, Roi Becker – Original music
