Roni Chadash is an Israeli choreographer, performer and teacher, based in Tel Aviv. Since her first creation in 2015, Roni’s research deals with her specific body -language and philosophical statement, one which identifies her works and movement.
In her movement research, Roni destructs the body into multiple joints that function independently. She constantly searches for instinctive, emotional and raw motives for movements.
Her works are an attempt to deconstruct the body, the movement, the image, the relationship between audience and performers and the act of the show itself.
She deals with the body by peeling it from its history, stereotypes, dictated labeling. She, therefore, confronts it with the naked present.
Roni performs and teaches around the world. She received numerous awards for her originality, including
The Israel Ministry of Culture award for young choreographers for 2018 and 2021.
‘Forming Lo♡e’ is my upcoming project, planned to take place at the end of 2023.
This project is a continuation to the development “Body #whatever”, which was created for Staatstheater Kassel in September 2021.
‘Forming Lo♡e’ is a full-length piece, planned for the cast of 8 performers from different nationalities, which deals with how ‘Love’ is defined visually in our culture.
In my eyes, the visibility of ideas is a danger to freedom, as it narrows our choices of interpretations to life. This piece exposes how we are trapped inside those visual patterns of love, criticize how we translate images into meaning and hopefully offers an alternative and more abstract way of observing love.
‘Forming Lo♡e’ will be another chapter to my constant research of the tension between form and content, image and illusion, construction and deconstruction.
